Performance Progress for Padmore & Rihon at Motorland

1st June 2011

Reigate-based racing driver Nick Padmore and Belgian co-driver Jean-Lou Rihon finished in 10th position for Round 3 of the French V de V Championship at Motorland Aragon, Spain on Sunday. The 6-hour race took its toll on their TFT Norma M20 FC but the duo remain upbeat after a solid performance, which saw Padmore qualify them in P3 and run strongly in the top three for most of the race.

Padmore started the race and quickly got up to 2nd position, keeping up with the lead car before a problem with the fuel pressure slowed him down and forced him in to the pits.

He re-joined in 11th and made good use of the remainder
of his stint, handing the car over to Rihon in P6, who continued their progress up through the field to P3, when the car came to a halt at the side of the track with more fuel issues after 3-hours.

The car and Rihon were recovered back to the pits where Padmore jumped in for his second stint, albeit 10 laps down in 16th position, but managed to climb back to P10 for Rihon to take the remainder of the race.

Rihon had a solid stint in heavy rain but held on to position, despite being forced into an unscheduled stop for tyres, to remain in P10 at the chequered flag.

Nick Padmore:
"We showed again this weekend that our pace is constantly improving and we are getting closer and closer to where we need to be.

"It's unfortunate that we had reliability issues with the fuel pump - the car was using too much fuel and we dropped back - but up until then, and after we sorted the problem, we were able to push and put in consistently decent times.

"Jean-Lou (Rihon) has really upped his game this season and Team TFT are doing an excellent job preparing the car. It's all coming together now, so we're positive we have a package that can see us challenge for a win and I'm really looking forward to Dijon."

Round 4 of the French V de V Championship takes place at Dijon, France on 1 - 3 July.
