Padmore in Formula 1 Test!

8th March 2010

British racing driver Nick Padmore was on coaching duties in the picturesque city of Guadix, Granada in Southern Spain last week. The French V de V regular was on hand with his services for the newly-founded Accurate Racing outfit as they prepare for the season ahead.

The Kimbolton-based Accurate Racing squad, established by Phill Hall and Ian Simmonds, took with them a cargo containing a pair of Ligier JS49's which they will run in the UK Speed Series, along with two historic Formula 1 cars in the shape of a 1980 ex-Riccardo Patrese Warsteiner Arrows A3-Cosworth and that of the late Michele Alboreto's 1983 Benetton Tyrrell-Cosworth - these will be run in the Grand Prix Masters Series and the Historic F1 Championship.

After coaching Hall and Simmonds, who are set to compete with one of the Ligiers this season, Reigate's Padmore was handed the Tyrrell to shakedown. Due to the altitude of the circuit and the thin air, initially the engine could not be run at full power until later on in the three-day test. However the team was eventually able to successfully complete their full programme with the engine turned up, and Padmore was delighted with how the whole operation went.

"It's great to be involved with Accurate Racing right from the start as it allows us all to more clearly understand the direction that the team is headed", says Padmore. They have some very interesting plans and I'm really looking forward to working with them to develop the team and drivers as a unit.

"The Tyrrell was fantastic to drive, and the sound it makes is just amazing! Now we aim to get the Arrows out and running alongside the Tyrrell to do further set-up work and continue with the coaching side within the team - we have all the ingredients in place to move Accurate Racing's projects forward, and I can see good things on the horizon for them."
