Britcar 24 Hours Review

12th September 2006

Nick Padmore completed the gruelling Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone last weekend to take a superb third place in class 3 for the RSR Racing prepared Honda Integra.

At 5pm on Saturday, Nick started the race with a 2 hour stint from 41st (3rd in class) and battled his way up to 17th (1st in class), setting the fastest lap along the way, before handing the car over to Radical Enduro team-mate Austin Reynolds.

During the night, he got back in the car for an hour and a half stint to keep the 2-litre Integra in the class lead.

Come Sunday morning and the car was having major fuel tank problems with the tank pressurising itself so the Integra could not take too much fuel onboard - the team making a total of 24 pit stops throughout the race! This lead to a 10 minute stop-go penalty when they needed to put half a litre of fuel in the car in the pitlane to get it started, putting the car back to 4th in class.

Nick took the last stint of the race at 3pm and was taking some 5-6 seconds a lap off the car in 3rd, managing to battle his way through to take the remaining step of the class podium with just 15 minutes to go before the flag.

A big thank you goes to team mates Austin Reynolds, Richard Ince, Ian Bankhurst, Tony Garston and RSR Racing, Rob, Numbers, Mark Owen, Claire, Spindrift Media and everyone else involved.
