Dutch Supercar and Britcar

20th November 2006

Nick has also been busy this year racing the Geoff Steel prepared BMW M3 with Angus Duke. Their first race meeting this year was at Spa-Francorchamps in the Dutch Supercar Challenge. This race was going to be a steep learning curve for Angus as he had never raced at Spa before. With 2 strong finishes in both races and in tricky conditions the car was then entered in the Donington Park Production S1 race. Nick had managed to qualify the car 3rd in class and was looking ahead to a good 2 hour race. Angus made the start and was setting some decent lap times but unfortunately the exhaust came loose, causing Angus to make an 18 minute pit stop while the exhaust was repaired. Angus rejoined the race and when the pit window opened handed over to Nick for the remainder of the race. Nick was fully lit trying to overtake as many cars as possible for a good result. After the 2 hour race they finally finished 18th but many laps down.

"Its a real shame Angus had the exhaust problem as he was getting faster every lap and having some good battles. When it was my turn in the car I just drove as hard as I could to try and make up some positions. Still it was good fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the race and cant wait for next year!"
