Everything the Norm at Shakedown!

22nd March 2008

Nick headed off to Brands Hatch last Friday to start the wheels rolling in the Norma, being the first outing for the car; it’s a difficult session to get through without any major hiccups.

Team Solutions are the guys behind running Nick and Jean-Lou, Nick said “Everything was spot on at the Shakedown, the team worked really hard to keep the car running reliable all day”. Nick has been training extremely hard over the winter period with regular gym sessions and the odd outing in his Rotax to keep his reactions sharp, which hopefully has paid off. When commenting on the first session in the Norma Nick said, “It was awesome! The down force is incredible and the shifter.....that’s something else, really responsive, it’s in gear before you can blink! And this is just the shakedown, so it’s not a major push in the car”.

Nick is really finding his place in this car already, and he seems to be comfortable in this particular genre of race car, having been a front runner with the Radical SR8, the Norma isn’t a million miles away from what Nick is used to (and more importantly) quick in already, so things are looking positive for the start of the season.

Nick, Jean-Lou and the Team head off to Silverstone next weekend (Sat 22nd) for a round of the Britsports Championship around the International circuit. It’s a fifty minute race, just a fraction of the time the car will be running for at the European rounds with 2, 3 and 6 hour endurances coming up, but its a good one for Nick and the team to start the season with.

Nick commented “It’s looking good for Silverstone, the car feels together, and I’m ready to start doing the thing it was built for now, then we’re off to Val de Vienne for the first 3 hour which I’m really looking forward to!”

Nick and the Team are also due to race at Donnington later in the year for the only UK V de V round, although the european rounds offer a change of scenery Donnington will definitely be a good one to watch.

With Silverstone and the start of the season approaching, Nick has a lot of preparing to do, however its looks like we’re on the verge of watching a very exciting season.
