Padmore & Hall Claim Another Podium at Silverstone Classic

28th July 2011

Reigate's Nick Padmore, and co-driver Phil Hall, netted a podium in the World Sportscar Masters race at the annual Silverstone Classic last weekend. The pair finished 3rd in class in their 1971 Lola T212, but were promoted up to 2nd after the disqualification of a fellow competitor.

Friday's qualifying session saw Padmore match his efforts from last year's race, putting the car on class pole position and 4th overall out of a fifty-one entries for the race, featuring Le Mans type Group 4 Prototypes, built between the mid-1960s up to 1974.

Hall took the wheel for the start of Sunday afternoon's race and drove consistently throughout his stint to bring the car in for Padmore in P9. A flat battery cost them valuable time in the pitlane before Padmore rejoined, after a bump-start, down in 7th in class and 16th overall.

The French V de V regular wasted no time in his stint and moved up from 7th in class to 3rd by the end of the 50-minute race, setting fastest lap in the process, before being moved up to P2 post-race.

Nick Padmore:
"I'm really happy we got another podium and the Silverstone Classic is just an awesome event! A massive thanks to Phil (Hall) for offering the chance to race here again.

"The car was very difficult to drive in the race and we had a few
pitlane dramas that possibly cost us a win, but we both drove well and it just gives me more motivation to come back next year and get on the top step!"

Padmore will next be out in action in Round 5 of the French V de V Championship at Paul Ricard, France on 2-4 September with co-driver Jean-Lou Rihon. After finishing in 2nd place last time out at Dijon, the duo will be out to keep the momentum going and bring home another strong result.
